The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd
I loved this book! I think this is a fabulous choice for book club. because the discussions are endless. The writing is breathtakingly beautiful and gave me goosebumps.
This is a historical fiction about Ana, the wife of Jesus. While it does narrate part of Jesus’ human life and historical journey (as opposed to the theological one), it isn’t a story about Jesus. It is about Ana- a strong, independent and compelling woman who wants to support the person she loves.
It was fascinating to learn about the life of women during this time period and I was so inspired by Ana and her bold struggle to realize the potential inside her, despite living in a culture and time determined to silence her. Make sure you read the author's note as well!
