Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult
WOW, this book is not what I expected, but in a good way! It was complicated and emotional with heavy social issues throughout! A legal drama always keeps me hooked. I think my jaw was actually on the floor when the twist hit! I loved the dynamic of the mothers in this book, and what they go through to protect and love their kids. I don’t want to give too much away, and recommend going into this one blind. I also loved the bee keeping aspect throughout. I probably would have given it a 5, but I didn’t feel like the end was as strong as the rest of the book. This is one book I am confident I won’t forget.
Olivia is a beekeeper and raising her 18 year old son Asher in the house she grew up in. One day Olivia gets a call that Asher’s girlfriend, Lily, is dead, and Asher is a suspect. The book goes back and forth from time leading up to her death and the trial after.
