Know My Name by Chanel Miller

Feeling speechless after reading this. This was raw, emotional, powerful, infuriating, and IMPORTANT!

This book is a memoir about Chanel, who was raped at a Stanford party while unconscious. She gives voice to the fight survivors go through and how it affects every aspect of your life.

I had to stop multiple times to rage to my husband about certain parts. It dives deep into so many issues of rape culture and really makes you want to do something about it. She described how people would say if you run in the freeway, expect to get hit by a semi. If you get drunk at a party, expect to get raped. WHAT!! I have never felt so proud as when Chanel powerfully gave her closing statement.

One of my favorite quotes from Chanel (one of MANY):

“My advice is, if he’s worried about his reputation, don’t rape anyone.” -Chanel Miller

This is a book everyone should read.
