Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll

🎧 I couldn't put this book down! A fiction that reads like true crime. The first chapter was difficult to get through- due to setting the stage and the horrific events that occurred. I felt like the author did a perfect job at describing the murders without adding too many gruesome details for the sake of shock factor.

This book offered a fresh take on the murders of Ted Bundy and strayed from the glamorization that we've seen in the many movies/ series made about his crimes. The author does not mention his name once in the entirety of the book. Instead it focuses on the Bright Young Women whose lives were tragically cut short- and the surprisingly large amount of men who enabled these atrocities!

I know a lot of you aren't into the gruesome stuff like me- and I will say that this is a disturbing book. However, the author only shares what is necessary and does it in a respectful way. I didn't feel like any of the details were for the sake of shock value! I wouldn't subject anyone to this book for book club- however it would certainly lend to an interesting discussion! There's a lot to unpack.

One thing I really felt was missing was an author’s note. I would've loved to know what research went on in writing this novel!

Overall, glad I read it! Who's planning on picking this one up?
